Hi, I’m Sean and this is my wife, Mary-Anne. We’ve been customers of James at Focused Financial for just coming up to two years.

We initially approached Focused Financial because Sean had unfortunately been made redundant, and we had some money that we wanted some advice about investing but had absolutely no idea about pensions. We’d been investing in pensions for years and we wanted to know what we had and how that would help us in later life. 

I heard about James at Focused Financial by checking for local financial advisers. I researched a couple and was really pleased with the reviews that I had seen. So, I gave James a call, and that was it.

The reason that we chose James was a combination of things. There were some fantastic reviews from local people. We wanted a local business, and we wanted somebody who we felt we could form an ongoing relationship with. Our initial contact with James gave us all the right feelings; I remember how I felt after that, and that’s why we chose to have an initial meeting with James.

As part of the relationship and the discovery that James went through, he helped bring our dreams to life, which sounds a bit dramatic, but we had some ambitions in our life and James added a financial plan and made those dreams realistic, and that is a wonderful thing for James to have done for us.

With regards to my financial future and how I feel about that as a result of working with James. Firstly, I feel it’s a lot more transparent. My expertise is not in the field of finance; James’ is, and he’s turned it into something easy to understand; it’s dead transparent and I feel that I’m making decisions based on a better understanding of where I’m at. So, I feel confident. It’s not like winning the lottery, but I do know exactly what we’ve got and what we can do with it, and I am far more confident about what the future holds than I was just a couple of years ago.

The best thing about working with James is that he understands my need for visuals. When we come to see him, he lays everything out beautifully in such a clear way that we can fully understand and see what the next 10 or 20 years will look like for us.

Not only would I recommend James, but I have recommended James and Focused Financial to both colleagues and family. I wouldn’t recommend somebody I didn’t trust implicitly. He has got my best interest as his client at the heart of what he does. So, to be able to feel that way means that I can and have confidently recommended him.
